St. Francis School, founded in 1978, is an English Medium Co-eductional School established and conducted by T.O.R. FRANCISCAN SOCIETY, a registered Charitable Society, having its headquarters at Ranchi, Jharkhand. The School has classes from Std. Nursery to X, and is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

Staffed by dedicated and qualified Sisters, Fathers and Brothers, the T.O.R. Francisian Society runs several schools in India in which young people belonging to every creed, social class, community and linguistic group are educated through the medium of English and the regional languages. These institutions are part of Catholic Church effort to share in the Country’s Educational undertaking. The effort, while particularly responsible for the Christian community has always been at the service of the whole nation.

Thus in these institutions, recognized as Christian Minority Institutions the primary purpose is to educate Chrisitan Children. However children belonging to other religions are also admitted. The religious beliefs of all students are treated with respect.


TRUTH, LOVE AND PEACE’ is the motto of St. Francis School. The school regards as its objective, “to spread the love of God in the hearts of all people, irrespective of caste, creed and social status, in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, by instilling in all, the values of human dignity, brotherhood, equality, Justice and peace.” In order to educate the “Whole Man” the school imparts to its pupils a sound moral, intellectual and physical education with a view to develop their develop their talents and potentialities and prepare them to face the challenges of life. The School also inculcates in them to face the initiative and responsibility to teach them the values of social service, self discipline, self-reliance, punctuality, cleanliness, loyalty, politeness, respect for the elders and the importance of games and sportsmanship while at play or at work.


The medium of instruction is English, but very special emphasis is gives to Hindi, the national language. The complete curriculum consists of English, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Civics, Geography, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Character formation and development of spiritual values are imparted regularly to students.


The Development of character in education can only be attained through discipline. The self imposed discipline in punctuality, neatness in dress behavior, respect, consideration for others and cooperative spirit are required of each student. Repeated misbehavior of a student causing harm to himself or others is not tolerated in the School.
Hence, special attention is given to ensure a high standard of morality and discipline in the school. Guardians are requested to collaborated in this with the authorities of the school by urging the regular attendenace and punctuality of their children. Periodical reports will keep the parents informed of the progress of their wards. These reports are to be signed by the parents and returned.
Irregular attendenace, habitual idleness, disobedience, bad conduct or sickness liable to be injourious to other pupils justify dismissal.
Various forms of corrective measures including fines may be imposed to discipline the erring students.


Students are expected to attend the classes on all School days, and minimum or 85% of attendance is required of them in order to appear in the examinations held in School. Absence must be written in the school diary and signed by the parent/guardian.


During the school-year there will be vacations as specified in the school calendar. These vactions are not to be exetended or anticipated. All are expected to attend the class on the opening day after each vacation. Those who are absent on the opening day after each vacation without leave or permission, will be fined or are liable to have their names struck off the roll after 10 days.
If a student is absent for 15 calendar days without informing the school at any time of the year, he/she will be considered as left the school and the name will be struck off the roll. Readmission can be granted after paying up the full dues if vacancy still exists.
The school session is from 1st April to 31st March of the following year.
